International Day of the Girl Child 11 October

Invest in Girls’ Rights: Our Leadership, Our Well-being

09:30 AM, Oct 11, 2023

Organized by UNICEF and Plan International, the 2023 event aims to unite adolescent girls with advocates for their rights, including UN leaders, NGOs, businesses, and governments.

The event showcases a world where girls actively influence government policies, business practices, and research priorities. This vision needs global commitment and specific funding to become the standard.

We hope you will be able to join us and organize a viewing party wherever you are, with and for girls.

Give girls an opportunity to lead by putting them in the forefront of change efforts; hearing their voices; responding to their asks; and welcoming them in decision-making spaces - it is one of the ways to invest in a future that believes in girls' agency.

A grand-scale peace event was held in South Korea September 18th-20th with stable operation and participants satisfaction. Themed "Implementation of Multidimensional Strategies for Institutional Peace," the world peace event hosted by Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) with the contribution of 2,000 volunteers was set to welcome over 800 global leaders from 121 countries representing diverse sectors including politics, education, youth, women, media, and religion from around the globe.

At the heart of this grand occasion was the dedicated Airport Team, working tirelessly to ensure the smooth arrival and departure of participants.

The skilled drivers from the HWPL Convoy Team undertook meticulous vehicle inspections to transport the participants and provided a total distance driven of approximately 800,000 km, or spinning 20 times of the globe.

Volunteer interpreters also played a vital role in facilitating communication, translating all materials into over 20 languages.

The broadcast media team worked to capture and convey the essence of the summit, with the videos making this event accessible to people around the world in various languages.

The medical department of active doctors, oriental medicine doctors, and nurses prepared a wide range of emergency medicines, from simple digestive medicines, to this event.

For the Security Department, all staff were not professional security guards but volunteers desiring to help for peace. Deputy General Manager of the Security Department, said, About 400 Security Department members received continuous education and training starting in March with actual simulations.

The installation team was responsible for the critical infrastructure necessary to make the event a success, handling electrical setups, and maintenance throughout, ensuring a seamless experience for attendees.

All of these volunteers, driven by their passion for peace, are working tirelessly to support the peace summit, and their unwavering commitment is truly remarkable. We HWPL appreciate their dedication, and hope that the government will support this peace movement, said an HWPL official.

HWPL, a South Korea-based international peace NGO affiliated with the UN ECOSOC and the UN DGC, has carried out global peace movements for world peace and cessation of war since its foundation in 2013. South Korea recently suffered from the recent 2023 World Scout Jamboree with global participants with poor management and apology from the government.

World Cotton Day 7 October : Cotton, weaving a better future

Celebrate World Cotton DayOctober 4, 2023, 9:00-18:00 (Vienna time)

Register for our in-person and online event entitled “Making cotton a fair and sustainable crop for all, from farm to fashion”. It will reveal the importance of this sector, as well as the relevance of its growth in a sustainable and inclusive way, guaranteeing decent work for all.

World Cotton Day, an idea that started thanks to the “Cotton Four”

The initiative of World Cotton Day was born in 2019, when four cotton producers in sub-Saharan AfricaBenin, Burkina Faso, Chad and Mali, known as the Cotton Four -proposed the World Trade Organization a World Cotton Day celebration on October 7.

During 2 consecutive years, the date offered an opportunity to share knowledge and showcase cotton-related activities.

Now that the United Nations has officially recognized this World Cotton Day, this great opportunity creates awareness of the need of market access for cotton and cotton-related products from least developed countries, fosters sustainable trade policies and enables developing countries to benefit more from every step of the cotton value chain.

A rules-based, non-discriminatory, open, fair, inclusive, predictable and transparent international cotton trading system is key to provide a livelihood to hundreds of millions of vulnerable people around the globe.

Besides, greater investments are needed to expand the sector beyond raw cotton production and create new income opportunities, especially for farmers, by adding more value to cotton fibre and developing by-products from other parts of the cotton plant.

International day : World Teachers’ Day

World Teachers’ Day is held annually on 5 October to celebrate all teachers around the globe. It commemorates the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which sets benchmarks regarding the rights and responsibilities of teachers, and standards for their initial preparation and further education, recruitment, employment, and teaching and learning conditions. The Recommendation concerning the Status of Higher-Education Teaching Personnel was adopted in 1997 to complement the 1966 Recommendation by covering teaching personnel in higher education.

World Teachers’ Day has been celebrated since 1994.

It is a day to celebrate how teachers are transforming education but also to reflect on the support they need to fully deploy their talent and vocation, and to rethink the way ahead for the profession globally.

World Teachers’ Day is co-convened in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO), UNICEF and Education International (EI).

"We call upon countries to ensure that teaching is transformed everywhere into a more attractive and valorised profession where teachers are valued, trusted, and adequately supported to meet the needs of every learner. Bold actions must be taken, if we are to reverse the current decline and successfully increase teacher numbers.“

HWPL Promises Peace and Acts Upon the Promise

In 2013, HWPL declared through the Declaration of World Peace that, to end wars and bring peace to the global community, a new international legal instrument was needed.

At the 2014 World Peace Summit, legal and political leaders from around the world signed an agreement with HWPL to work together on drafting such a document.

In just a year and a half, on 14 March 2016, the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) was proclaimed, and HWPL is actively committed to the introduction of the DPCW into international law.
